Assignment of New Registration Mark on Removal of Vehicle to Another State

Section 47 of the M.V. Act, 1988

Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 provides for the assignment of a new registration mark on the removal of a vehicle to another state. The application for the assignment of a new registration mark to a motor vehicle shall be made in Form 27 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMV). A time period of 12 months is provided for the re-assignment of a vehicle under Section 47 of the Act.

Procedure for Re-Registration

The vehicle owner shall produce the following documents:

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) in CMV Form 28, or postal acknowledgement for having sent the application for issue of NOC to the concerned registering authority.
  • Application Form CMV Form 27.
  • Registration Certificate (RC Book) and Tax Card.
  • Insurance Certificate.
  • Consent of the Financier.
  • Pollution Under Control Certificate.
  • Prescribed fees and any difference of tax, if applicable.

All related applications shall be filed before the Registering Authority, and the vehicle shall be produced for inspection in the premises of the R.T.O. or S.D.M., in case it has not been inspected earlier.
