As Per the 20th Livestock Census the sheep population of the state is 7,99,200 and that of goats is 11,20,081. The small ruminants constitute about 40% of the total livestock population. The Himachal Pradesh State Wool Procurement and Marketing Federation Limited has been Incorporated under the H.P. State Cooperative Societies Act. 1968 as an Apex Cooperative Institution Registered on the 07th November, 1988 with the Registrar Cooperative Societies, Himachal Pradesh. The Head Office of Federation is located at Block No. 23, SDA Complex, Kasumpti, Shimla-9 and the branch Office and Works is Wool Grading -cum-Marketing Centre, Palampur, Distt. Kangra.
