HP Home Guard Organisation was created in 1962. The Home Guards are volunteers drawn from various walks of the society. The aim of raising Home Guards organisation was to infuse a spirit of service, courage and patriotism amongst the people and to channelize their energies in the maintenance of order for socio-economic development of the society. All able bodied citizens in the age group of 18 to 50 years who fulfil the prescribed physical and educational standards are eligible to be enrolled as Home Guard volunteers.
