a)           Himachal Road Transport Corporation a State Govt. undertaking is providing efficient and coordinated transport services to the people of the Pradesh and discharging an important role in the economy of the State.  Road Transport constitutes life line of to boost the economy in the mountainous State of H.P as the scope for other mechanized modes of Transport in the Pradesh is very limited.  H.R.T.C is discharging social obligations on behalf of State Govt. and providing concessional/ free travelling facilities to the uplift various sections of the Society as under:-

b)           The subsidies indicated at point a) are indirect and no direct payment made to any class. Further the Corporation is plying their buses on un-economical routes in the interest of providing transportation facilities to remote/rural areas of the State irrespective of the topography/traffic potential.
