TRAINING PLAN FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF FISHERIES DEPARTMENT HIMACHAL PRADESH FOR THE YEAR 2014-15

                  Department of Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh is fully committed for overall development of fisheries resources in the state with an aim to increase fish production.  To achieve this aim, all departmental  personnel are required to be trained continuously in order to upgrade their professional skill in the areas of various aspects of management and development of fisheries such as fish seed production, fish farming, post harvest techniques, fish pathology, development of fisheries in reservoirs and riverine sector etc. These trainings will help in the better administration as well as quality delivery of services.

                  Himachal Pradesh Government has framed H. P. State Training Policy 2009 in order to provide mandatory trainings to all employees of the Departments in two steps; one at the time of induction and second on promotion or once in five years for the improvement of their working skills in the fields assigned to them. To achieve this aim, some funds have been earmarked to meet out the expenditure of such trainings.

                  In compliance to this policy, Department of Fisheries have identified training needs of the Department in respect of all categories of employees and have decided to train 55-60 employees of all categories every year.           

1.     TRAINING OBJECTIVES:

           

Ø  To increase fish production in the state by judicious management of all the culturable water resources;

Ø  To develop reservoir fishery of the state with an aim to sustain fish  production from the open impoundments;                           

Ø  To undertake massive breeding programmes of Indigenous and Exotic carps, Mahseer, Trout and other sub-temperate species for augmenting the stocking programme in reservoirs, rivers, streams and tributaries;

Ø  To protect and conserve reservoir and lacustrine fishery resources of the state;

Ø  To promote game fishery in the state with particular emphasis on promotion of angling tourism;

Ø  To promote commercial farming of rainbow trout in the high altitude areas;

Ø  To promote aquaculture in the state by providing technical and financial assistance to the fish farmers and rural youths;

Ø  To generate employment opportunities in the fishery sector and ameliorating the condition of fisher-folk of the state;
