Applications are invited from the male candidates belonging to Punjab State, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (UT) states for the post of Constable (General Duty) in BSF on temporary basis likely to be permanent in the pay scale of Rs. 3050-75-3950-80-4590, plus usual and admissible allowances to Central Govt. employees from time to time. In addition, Ration allowance, Medical Assistance, free uniform, free accommodation, free leave pass, etc. are admissible to BSF. The post has all India liability and selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India, and even abroad. They will be governed under BSF Act and Rules as well as CSS Rules.

a) RESERVATION FOR CONSTABLE (GD)
10% vacancies, irrespective of reservation quota are reserved for Ex-servicemen which, may later on be filled up by fresh candidates if suitable Ex-servicemen do not turn up.

3. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR THE POST OF CONST. (GD)
a) Age - Between 18 to 23 years as on last date of submission of application, Upper age limit is relaxable by 03 years for OBC and 05 years for SC/ST candidates.
b) Education - Minimum Matric or equivalent.

Medical Standard for Const (GD)
Eye sight:- the minimum distance vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 both eyes without glasses. The candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

5. ELIGIBILITY FOR RE-EMPLOYMENT OF EX-SERVICEMEN (CONST) GD ONLY
Ex-servicemen being trained soldier, only written test, interview and Medical fitness test to ascertain Medical category will be conducted. As per Govt.'s order total relaxation in prescribed physical standard and Education is admissible. Relaxation of upper age limit to the extent of military service plus 03 years is applicable. However, break in Army service and re-employment should not exceed 02 years. No PET is required to qualify by ex-servicemen.

6. Persons serving in Govt./Semi Govt. department may send their applications, through proper channel alongwith 'No Objection Certificate' as per format given in Annexure-II.

7. Wards (Sons) of serving/retired BSF personnel may also apply if so desired accordingly. Sons of serving BSF personnel may apply either from their Home State or from State in which his father is posted/deployed at the time of recruitment. This concession is also applicable for serving enrolled followers of BSF.

8. TEST/INTERVIEW CONST (GD)
Physical efficiency test Viz. one mile run, 11 ft long jump and 3.5 ft high jump.
Written test:- Objective type (GK) 25 marks and Descriptive type viz. Essay writing, dictation and mathematics etc. 25 marks.
Interview to check personal bearing, response, orientation, general level of intelligence etc.
Medical examination as per BSF Medical Manual.
Bonus marks for NCC/ITI Diploma and Certificate holders and National/State/University level Sportsmen will be given.

9. HOW TO APPLY AND BY WHICH DATE CONSTABLE (GD)
(a) Application in the prescribed format at Annexure-II either by type written or neatly hand written on one side only of full scape plain paper with passport size photographs affixing on application duly attested by a Gazetted Officer with seal be sent to Comdt. (Administration) HQ Punjab Frontier, BSF, Jalandhar Cantt, PO - BSF Campus, Jalandhar Cantt (Punjab) Pin Code - 144006 so as to reach not later than 01 February '2002' through post alongwith following documents etc.
(i) Postal order or Demand Draft for Rs. 20/- payable in favour of Inspector General BSF Punjab Ftr Jalandhar (State Bank of India BSF Campus Jalandhar - Code No. 6596). However, no Postal order or Demand Draft is required to be sent by SC/ST candidates and Ex-servicemen.
(ii) Attested copies of certificate/testimonial as proof of Education qualification and age/date of birth.
(iii) Attested copy of caste/category certificate for SC/ST/OBC candidates given by an officer not below Tehsildar or SDO/SDM etc.
(iv) Attested copy of Domicile Certificate issue by an officer not below Tehsildar or SDO/SDM etc.
(v) One self addressed envelop of size 23X10 Cms. affixed with postage for Rs. 4/- bearing name and full postal address of the candidates with Pin Code.
(vi) A form for issue of Admit Card will also be filled in and forwarded alongwith Passport size photograph duly attested by a Gazetted Officer with seal as per Annexure-III alongwith the application form.
(vii) A self addressed post card which will be returned to the applicant in token of receipt of the application with its registration Number.

9. SELECTION PROCESS FOR CONST (GD)
Admit card with roll number and general instructions for appearing for the test/interview will be issued 15 days prior to the date of test/interview to the eligible candidates. They will be called to appear for the same to a place preferably within their Home State for which no TA/DA is admissible. Incomplete application will be summarily rejected and no correspondence on this will be entertained.
