The CDTP scheme has been started by MHRD in 06 Govt. Polytechnic namely Sundernagar, Hamirpur, Rohru, (W) Kandaghat, Kangra & Ambota since the academic session 2009-10. This scheme is now transferred from Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education) to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
This scheme is especially for the advancement of the local community who are lived in backward areas and unable to get the professional and technical education. As per scheme each identified Polytechnics should conduct a survey for identification of priority needs for skill training programs of a cluster of 10 to 20 villages every year & DRDA, NGOs, Voluntary Agencies, Village Panchayats and Retired Teachers, engineers and other reputed persons should be involved in the process.
It is 100% Central Sponsored Scheme and the grant is being received from the Govt. on installment basis. This is a Direct Central Assistance scheme under which Recurring and Non-Recurring Grant is being provided by MHRD to the selected institutions/Polytechnics for implementation of the scheme.
This scheme runs various Engineering and Non-Engineering courses with the duration of 03 to 06 months through its main and sub- extension centers. During the year 2017-18 the following courses are being run by the aforesaid Polytechnics:
During the year 2017-18 under CDTP scheme 1421 persons have been trained and 1400 persons are undergoing training during by the above Polytechnics.
No Course Fee/Caution Money/Securities shall be charged from the trainees/ beneficiaries under any circumstances. The services under the scheme shall be provided to the needy people, free of cost.
Accordingly All the fifteen Govt. Polytechnics in the State have been covered under this scheme, out of which 6 Polytechnics namely Sundernagar, Hamirpur, Kandaghat, Rohroo, Ambota and Kangra have received 1st installment of Central grant of Rs. 10.25 lakh per Polytechnic. Matter is being taken up with GOI for release of funds
