1. Financial assistance to poor & needy patients

The main objective of this programme is to provide financial assistance to poor and needy patients who are suffering from various ailments or any other life threatening diseases.

The financial assistance up to Rs.50,000/- is provided to the eligible patients who has undergone surgery or who has been advised by physician/surgeon for any surgry subject to the production of estimate. The expenditure incurred on surgery/ treatment after discharge from hospital is reimburshed on the production of prescription slip/ discharge slip of the concerned Government hospital or hospitals empanelled by  Government of Himachal Prades.

The financial assistance is be provided to the persons living below poverty line or whose family income is less than Rs. 35000/- per annum subject to the condition that the applicant.

The eligible person will have to apply for financial assistance on the prescribed format to the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Red Cross Society along with  prescription slip, cash memo of medicines purchased by the applicant during his treatment duly attested concerned doctor, annual income certificate duly issued by the Tehsildar, copy of Aadhar Card, estimate of surgery & date of surgery duly signed by the  doctor of the concerned Hospital.

Ambulance Services

The following Red Cross ambulances are available ( 24 X 7 )   at Regional  Hospital Kullu and providing services to the patient on nominal rates:

3. Voluntary blood donation camp

The District Red Cross Society organizing voluntary blood donation camp with the objective  to create awareness about the need for regular blood donation and motivate people for voluntary Blood Donation and also to ensure  continuous supply of blood  in Government blood banks. The blood donation camps are organized with the close cordination of various organization in the district.

4.Health check up camps

Free health check up  camps are organized with the  objective  to create awareness of general health among the people living in rural areas and to  provide general health care services and counseling them on basic healthcare and hygiene

     Health check up  is conducted by a team of doctors, nurses and a lab technician.


5. Day Care Centres For Older Persons

Six Day Care Centres for Senior Citizens (more than 60 years of age )  have been setup at Kullu, Patlikuhal,Bhunter, Banjar, Anni &  Nirmand. The following services are being provided in the centres :-

·         Recreational facilities like news papers, magazines, books, television, indoor games like carom, luddo, chess etc;

·         Monthly Health checkup, counseling for proper diet & nutrition by part time doctors;

·         Refreshment facilities on demand / on payment basis, peer interaction and entertainment facilities in these centres.

·         Talks / discussions on legal rights of older persons organized through Distrct Legal Authority.

6. Help Line for Older Persons

To facilitate the older persons, a Help Line no. 01902-222030 has been setup at Kullu. The Help Line provide information and access to the services like old age homes, day care centres, hospitals, medical practitioners, pharmacies, legal aid, wills, legacies and maintenance, clubs and associations,   government  schemes/facilities for older persons. The elders who are living in isolation & neglect are also being provided counseling and rescue /relief services, etc. through the Help Line.

7. Adoption of homes for destitute

The District Red Cross Society has adopted homes for destitute children, old age home and institutions for special children located in District Kullu. and providing essential articles as per their requirements.


8. Red Cross Mela

To raise the funds for the implementation of various programmes of Red Cross and to  propagate  of fundamental principles and mission   of Red Cross, District level Red Cross Mela is  organized every year.


9. Junior Red Cross/Youth Red Cross/ Community Youth Red Cross

Junior Red Cross, Youth Red Cross, Community youth Red Cross has been introduced in schools, colleges and panchayats respectively. Any school student of 6th to 12th standard  can become member of Junior Red Cross after depositing annual membership fee ranging from Rs. 10/-  to 30/- per annum with his school.

The college student can become member of Youth Red Cross after subscribing annual membership fee of Rs. 100/- per annunm.

The youth between the age of 18 to 30 years of age who has completed his study can become a member of Community Youth Red Cross by depositing Rs. 150/- annunm.

The JRC, YRC, CYRC group could be registred with District Red Cross Society after depositing fee of  Rs. 100/-, 200/- and 500/- respectively.

The registered groups will have to organize activities as per the guidelines.

10. District Disability Rehabilitation Centre(DDRC)

The District Red Cross Society setup a DDRC in Regional Hospital premises at Kullu. The following services to the persons with disabilities are being provided in the centre:-

o   Servey & identification of persons with disabilities through camp approach.

o   Awarness Generation for encouraging and enhancing prevention of  disabilities, early detection and interview etc.

o   Early intervention;

o   Therapeutic Services e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy,  etc.

o   Provision of  hearing aids, crutches, wheel chairs, calipers, surgical shoes, artificial limbs  etc.  and  free distribution thereof to the persons whose monthly income is less than Rs.15000/- per month.

o   Facitation of disability certificate, bus passes and other concession / health insurance  for persons with persons with disabilities.

o   Referral and arrangement of surgical correction through Govt. & Charitable institute.

o    Arrangement of loans for self employment, through banks & other financial institutions.

o    Counselling and IQ assessment  of  persons with disabilities, their parents & family members.

o    Promotion of barrier free environment.
