Subject: Grant of Dearness Relief to Himachal Pradesh Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners – Revised rates effective from 1.1.2001. 

The undersigned is directed to refer to this department’s O.M. No. Fin(Pen)B(10)-6/98, dated 18^th November, 2000 sanctioning the installment of dearness relief admissible from 1.7.2000 and to say that the Governor of Himachal Pradesh is pleased to decide that dearness relief shall be paid to the Himachal Pradesh Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners to compensate at the rate of 43% w.e.f. 1.1.2001 in supersession of the rate mentioned in the O.M. dated 18.11.2000 referred to above.

Payment of Dearness Relief involving a fraction of a rupee shall be rounded off to the next higher rupee.

Other provisions governing grant of dearness relief to pensioners such as regulation of dearness relief during employment/ re-employment, regulation of dearness relief where more than one pension is drawn etc. will remain unchanged.

These orders shall apply to all H.P. Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners.

Pensioners of All India Services who have retired from service from Himachal Pradesh cadre of these services will be entitled for dearness relief at the rates contained in Government of India, Department of Pension and P.W.O.M. No. 42/2/2001-P&PW(G) dated 11^th April 2001.

As DR will now be at uniform rate of 43%, it has now been decided to dispense with the issue of enclosing ready reckoner along with the dearness relief orders. It will now be the responsibility of the pension disbursing authority, including the Nationalised Banks, etc. to calculate the quantum of dearness relief payable in each individual case.

The Accountants General, Treasury Officers and authorized Public Sector Banks are requested to arrange payment of relief to pensioners on the basis of these orders immediately.
