Himachal Pradesh Government gives National State and District Level Awards every year for writing developmental stories on Himachal Pradesh. National Award is open for journalists throughout India and for State and District Awards only the journalists working within Himachal Pradesh are eligible. The National Award carries cash prize of Rs. 25,000, State Award of Rs. 20,000 and District Award of Rs. 15,000 besides commendation certificates.
These Awards are given for writing the best development stories on Himachal Pradesh and published in important newspapers and magazines in a calendar year i.e. 1st January, to 31st December. The story should be an investigative report about the change that is taking place in the lives of the people of Himachal Pradesh due to various developmental activities, educational reforms, social welfare programmes, economic upliftment policies undertaken by official and non-official agencies.
The personal effort put in by the Journalists in writing the story and language of the story is also taken into consideration during selection. The awards are given to persons engaged in the profession of journalism and working in Newspaper/News Agency but shall not be a government employee.
The award are proposed to be given for the calendar year 2000 and 2001. Entries for the same are invited from the eligible journalists. Entries should reach the Director of Information & Public Relations, Himachal Pradesh Shimla-171002 by 5th March,2002 positively. Each entry should be accompanied with four Photostat copies of the stories along with one original copy of newspaper in which it has been published.
